Two questions: Cordless mouse/keyboard & that $@#(* Silverlight program netflix uses
First: I have a logitech wireless mouse/keyboard set. The mouse seems to be dying. Can I get a new cordless mini usb mouse and still use my old keyboard with it's little desk transmitter or would the new mouse and old transmitter get hinkey and cause problems. I have to use a split keyboard for my hands and they are hard to find, plus I am just not one to toss something that works if I don't have to. Do I just replace the 2 pieces or will just a mouse work?

Re Silverlight: What do you guys think of it? I think it caused some problems on the PC so I uninstalled (or tried) Now we are in a nether-world of Silverlight always trying to update buy failing because it isn't there. But why would it keep trying to update if it's uninstalled? Can't get the update attempts to stop, can't download movies to watch cuz it says I need Silverlight, can't reinstall cuz it says it's already on.

Is it a sucky program that wants to kill my machine or should I keep trying to get it to install again so it will update and stop bugging me. It would be nice to be able to watch chick flicks while Havocdad is busy with football season ;)

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

1. I hate cordless mice
because I have a computer armoire so that I can close the door on the mess if anybody comes over and if the mouse drops down, I practically have to pick it apart to find the damned thing. If the mouse has a tail, I can fish it back through from the USB plug on the back of the box.

It's getting very challenging to find 5 button mice with tails.

The cordless keyboard experiment was nice for leaning back in the chair, but the keyboard seemed pretty fragile and conked out in record time.

I guess I'm just waiting for wireless technology to improve on this stuff before I repeat the experiments.

But that mouse needs a tail. Dammit.

2. Thank you
Because of some physical problems, cordless is much easier for me to use.

3. A couple of things ...
I had installed MS's .NET due to someone's recommendation. It made my slightly problematic web application completely useless. So I uninstalled it with Revo > http://www.revouninstaller.com/ (best for all uninstalltions). .NET still left some processes running, however. That, even though Revo removes files and registry entries left behind by standard uninstall.

I ran good old standby One Care last night, and it fixed registry entries and got rid of the processes. (this takes a couple of hours or so) >

If this resolves the Silverlight issue and you want to try it again, let us know. Someone will be able to figure it out and help you.

4. Thank you. Will try it this evening or tomorrow.
Appreciate the tips and links. If I click links to read about the programs, it won't just start downloading, will it? (Noted some discussion of links to auto downloads here abouts and don't want a blind install ;) )

Thanks again

6. Finally had uninterrupted time to work with the revouninstaller you suggested
Wow-ie! that is SO cool! Managed to FINALLY clear the traces of Silverlight out so I could reinstall. Hopefully the improved version will not try to strangle the computer like it did before! The machine kept trying to update it and that was a pain in the neck, as most of it had been taken off already.

Pulled residue of old McAfee program (which was probably why that company charged us for new license, although we got rid of it and replaced with different virus protection over a year ago) so that is good too.

It also got rid of some residual crap from some other programs we uninstalled. What a nifty program. Thank you for the good advice. The interface was nice, even for an old luddite like me.

Bookmarked the OneCare so I can check it out if there are any more problems

7. Silverlight constantly kills my wired mouse.
Constantly have to unplug/replug the mouse if I want to do anything else while Silverlight is playing.
