2. an FYI about Firefox 3.5
here is something called Location Aware Browsing that tells google where you are based on your IP address or something.

Location-Aware Browsing

Firefox 3.5 can tell websites where you’re located so you can find info that’s more relevant and more useful. It’s about making the Web smarter – and is done in a way that totally respects your privacy." WTF

Hmm well they do tell you how to turn it off

Location-Aware Browsing is always opt-in in Firefox 3.5. No location information is ever sent without your permission. If you wish to disable the feature completely, please follow this set of steps:
In the URL bar, type about:config
Type geo.enabled
Double click on the geo.enabled preference
Location-Aware Browsing is now disabled

I downloaded 3.5 and was liking it until I read this. They say it is OPT IN but why do I have go to turn it off?

4. Opt-In ...

It's opt-in because whenever your location is requested by a site attempting to use the feature, you're given the option of sharing or not sharing with that site.

Turning it off entirely in effect always sends a "do not share" response.

FWIW, how well this works depends on a lot of variables and in some cases isn't even as accurate as what websites can already do simply by tracking your IP. It says I'm in LA, for example, which is well over a thousand miles from my actual location.

7. OpenDNS ...

Yeah, I use OpenDNS, but that's not why it thinks I'm in LA.

6. Opt-in
When you visit a page that requests your location, you’ll be asked before any information is shared with the requesting website and our third-party service provider. Disabling location aware browsing means that you won't be bothered with this prompt.

8. I'm trying it . . so how do you
Edited on Sun Jul-05-09 01:32 PM by Why Syzygy
modify the text style? I have no idea what "unicode" is.

And does anyone know how the video save works? Or where the settings are?
That's the main reason I decided to give it a go.

It is noticeably slower than Safari. But yesterday there were about three crashes with Safari.
No warning. It seems to get overloaded when a lot of .tmp files build up.
