SystemRescueCd
SystemRescueCD issued a brand new release a couple of weeks ago. This free/open source Linux (Gentoo) based rescue CD is a must-have in any computer user's fixit toolkit. When your Linux or Windows system goes haywire just boot it up and commence rescue operations.

In addition to various system/recovery tools it includes a couple of lightweight web browsers which is useful if you need to get to the web after your system has crashed.
