Anyone have experience with VX2 malware?
Dell tech worked on the software for almost 4 hours today and tell me VX2 is gone, but I think they just gave up trying to restore original settings. When I run a Windows verification scan before it ends they tell me I have to install my Windows XP Professional CD. Except I never had XP Professional. I've got XP Home edition. This tech help cost me $130 which is cheap for the time it took but way too expensive because the window I get at the end of it is the same one that tipped me off that I had a problem. Except that originally they wanted XP Pro Service Pack 3 CD and now they only want XP Pro CD #2

I am thinking of restoring the operating system to factory settings, but what a lot of work that will be. But it will be a good opportunity to get rid of Yahoo's claim on Internet Explorer...that has been bothering me for a while. Is there any way to get Yahoo Mail without handing over my browser to them? I use Yahoo Mail for shopping correspondence so all my contacts and receipts are there. I also like Yahoo calendar because it sends me email reminders of appts and events I make a year or so in advance. But Yahoo is a nosy bastard.

Yes. If you're talking about "Yahoo Mail" and "Yahoo Toolbar" that show up in 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel, you can remove them and still use Yahoo web mail. If you're using Yahoo with a mail client (pop3), I can't say for sure. But you do not need them to use yahoo mail or calendar.

I recommend using Revo Uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com because they make a lot of registry entries that using regular Windows uninstall will not remove. Revo has several other nice features too.
