$369.00

I've had one of these (without the speakers) for about a year and it's one of the best monitors I have ever owned. I use it for photo editing and web building in conjunction with a smaller 24" monitor. Very bright and easy on the eyes.

1. Because much of my work is with images
my preference is for Viewsonic screens. How do these compare?

2. My 2nd screen is a Viewsonic LCD.
And the comparison is astounding to me. The Hanns-G is much brighter and responsive. If you are considering stepping up, I'll go into the other room and get you the exact model numbers off of both of the monitors. Let me know.

3. The light bleed on that model is horrendous. Also, I'm not sure it's a true 8-bit panel. Not at 3ms

I'd rather get a S-IPS or, if nothing else, a S-PVA... At 3mn, it's probably a large, crap TN panel that's 6-bit and whose colors shift if you don't look at them head on. :(

Good site to test how good your monitor is...

I use a Soyo Topaz S 24". 8ms, P-MVA panel (essentially a handed down panel from Benq) -- no frills, but at $399 (on sale often for $299 or even $249 at OfficeMax), nothing comes close to it when it comes to image quality and even then I'd rather spend more on a solid S-IPS unit. Especially for shadow detail; but those monitors are still $2000...

4. I disagree. I own one and it's been phenominal.
Also, buying from Costco, if you don't like it you can return it. This model usually retails for $5-600 and is a great bang for the buck. Another consideration is that the Hanns-G has a warranty of 3 years vs. Soyo's 1 year.

Maybe I just got a good one. :)

5. I have a 24" Sceptre...
And with all the website work I do, I sure could use another screen and a rack to hold them both. Alas...someday.
