Sloooooooow Internet
Something weird is going on with my computer. A little background first. I have cable internet. I'm wired to the router and my son uses the same connection wirelessly. His computer runs fine and renders pages and downloads at acceptable speeds. My computer which is wired to the router has slowed to a crawl. It takes several seconds for webpages to render. At first I thought it might be my cable connection, but my sons computer is running fine.

So far I have rebooted the modem, rebooted the router, and unplugged and replugged all connections between modem, router and computer.

I've run Adaware, Spybot search & destroy, CCleaner, several other disk cleaners and registry cleaners, virus scan and I've run a defrag. I've cleared the cache (I use firefox) several times.

I'm at a loss as to what is going on here and what else to do.

1. what OS and what browser?
you may want top run a speed test or two here http://www.speedtest.net/ then try it on the other PC as well and compare.

Does your router have more than one ethernet port? If so try swapping ports, perhaps swapping cables, or maybe try the wireless connection with your PC to see if it isn;t the ethernet card.
