Blackberry? iPhone? Windows SmartPhone? Palm? MotoQ?
We're set to upgrade next week. We are on Verizon and like the service.

We have Smartphones right now.

We want phones.

We want phones that are PDAs (like we have now)

We're not sure about e-mail, but would like it.
We're not sure about web surfing, but would like it.
We're not sure about turn by turn GPS, but would like it.
We're not sure about media (iPod replacement), but would like it.

We have stylus phones. We hate the stylus. The little laptop-mouse-like device on some phones is okay. Touch screen is maybe better.

Any suggestions? First hand experience?

(We are currently leaning toward Blackberry - maybe the Curve, maybe the Storm.)

1. Will you need to interface with a corporate mail server?
If so, that might determine which model(s) you can use. Organizations need Blackberry Enterprise Servers ($$$$) to support all the features of Blackberry devices. If this phone is only for your personal use, then you can get anything you want.

Sprint is the only carrier (IIRC) that allows you 14 days I think to change your mind if you don't like the phone, reception, or service. Might not be a bad idea to try something from them. If you hate it, you can always go somewhere else and not pay a huge cancellation fee.

2. I got the Samsung Omnia and I love it
My husband got the Samsung Saga and it works better for him because it has a keyboard, the Omnia is touch only. Both phones have wm 6.1 in them. The Omnia is packed with features, it also comes with a stylus but I hardly ever use it. Verizon has the GPS disabled in both phones (you have to pay extra/per month for VZ Navigator). However, word is that they are going to open up the gps on these phones in the first part of the year (fingers crossed). If you have any questions about either phone, just let me know.

3. Hubster and I just got the LG Dare through verizon

And, don't tell anyone, but my friend that has an Iphone likes my phone better :)

It has a touch screen
Has email
Has websurfing (3G network)
has GPS, turn by turn, through verizon navigator
has MP3 player.
Has video player

It's pretty sweet, actually. we've never encountered a no-email or no-internet or no-phone zone so far, even in the middle of the hospital stairwell in the basement....I can get wherever i want.

We were looking at the touch-screen blackberries and didn't really like those. There is a Palm that Verizon has but god it was soooo small. I could not imagine opening a PDF or Word Document and even being able to begin looking at the damn document

Right now the phones have 2GB cards in them, but I think they can hold up to 8gb, or however big the current SD cards are, and they will continue to be able to handle larger SD cards as they come out.

We have an unlimited data package for email, text, instant message, navigator, and web, and it's $130 a month total for both of our phones including our shared minutes.

ALSO it is bluetooth (duh) and Verizon gives you 2 weeks to test out the phone to see if you like it or not. If it doesn't fit your style, you can return it for full refund, etc.

The phones were $260 but we got a discount for a 2 year service agreement, and each phone got a $50 rebate as well, so they came out to about $100 each.

4. I have had the Iphone, Blackberry and Q. Q is pretty obsolete IMHO
now. It was hot but there are very few choices for it left currently. It was pretty but it did not do enough easily.

The blackberries that I have used have been mediocre as well. They are good for business though, I can synch my emails which is critical and know what's happening while I'm away. The internet browser leaves a lot to be desired.

Iphone is fabulous. Easy to use. Lots of additions available to download to enhance the phone. It's sturdy. I've dropped it several times, hard, and it doesnt even scratch. The pictures are good but there is no flash. All in all, I'd go with the I Phone but the new blackberry seems to have some Iphone features. If I were renewing my contract I'd compare the new blackberry touch to the Iphone. You have to switch to AT&T for Iphone of course and I also really liked Verizon's service (except at the end when I cancelled they made me pay for an extra month).

Good luck.

We're technologically challenged so I can't tell you about it's innards but, I love all it does. I wanted a qwerty keyboard to text my husband and family until I can get used to my cochlear implant for hearing. It does a hell of a lot of stuff that my husband is into and I like the texting feature, the navigator, the camera, and a few other things I haven't even begin to play with yet. So check it out.

Now get back to Cooking and Baking - I'm starving and I also want to hear about and new copper pots and how is the Sparkly girl!! ;-)

Oh Hell, the link wasn't working so it's the Verizon Voyager Multimedia Phone w/Touch Screen

6. Just got a BB Bold and love it.
Verizon has the Storm which looks pretty sweet too as long as a touch screen works for you.

Berry better as a business tool, iPhone more for fun. As least as I see it.
