Why do videos, YouTube mostly, stop and go when I run them?

Is there some maintenance I need to do on this computer?

1. If you look at the progress bar

below the video, you will see an indicator of how much is downloaded, and another one on top of it showing the point you are watching in the video. When the one you are watching catches up with the download (buffer) then the vid will stop and catch up. This could be a slow computer or internet connection.

You could try hitting pause as soon as you open the video, watching the bar, then hitting Play when it is nearly loaded. The video will continue to load even when paused.
