Best/easiest software to make websites design? For beginner please
been running a website using the hosts' web builder.

Would like to do better.

I have no training on web design, just used a WYSIWYG.

Any help appreciated.

Price may be an issue.

1. If you can afford it raid Barnes and Noble.
Google Web Design, there is a lot of information out there. Look for articles, but be leary of sites that are trying to sell you their version of web design. The KISS principle is usually better when designing web pages. Too much glitter turns people off.

You can do a View > Page Source in Netscape or FireFox. Or, heave forbid, if you use Internet Explorer, View > Source. You can see the code behind some interesting things sometimes. It is good to learn at least the basics of HTML.

You need to make sure your pages look good in both. IE is crappy at rendering pages correctly. When I have problems, it is usually because if IE.

2. I'm not sure there is any 'easy' software
No matter what you use, you will have to know some technical stuff.

I use Visual Studio Web Developer Express. It's free, and is not missing and capabilities. It can be used for making corporate websites or personal homepages. There is a split screen option that lets you see the code and WYSIWYG at the same time. http://www.microsoft.com/express/vwd/

If you ever need any help there are lots of places with people who you can ask, including here.

The design part of making a website is often totally different from the development end. We hired someone to make our website who did a great job with design. What he does is uses Photoshop to draw what he wants the webpage to look like. Then he cuts the drawing into separate pieces, then puts them back together on the webpage. As far as I know that's the best way to make a webpage look good.
