next stupid and embarrassing question
see my little problem getting adaware in previous post.

How do you disable comodo firewall?? There sure as heck isn't any obvious thing to click. I tried sliding the slider to "allow all" where it says computer security level on the summary page. That had no affect on my inability to download. I have no clue how the thing actually works and the comodo help forum doesn't seem to be as basic as I apparently need. (on off switch???)

1. Right click on the Comodo icon by the clock.

Left click on Firewall Security Level
Left click on Disabled.

2. This is how I would do it.
Clik on start, go to run and type in services.msc and then scroll down to the comodo firewall then right clik on it and pick properties. In the startup types box clik on disable. clik on stop or reboot and then your firewall will be disabled..

3. Well you could always just exit it and then start it again
I'm also finally learning the details about Comodo, and started with this post:

http://forums.comodo.com/frequently_asked_questions_faq_for_comodo_firewall/how_to_understanding_creating_network_control_rules_properly-t1125.0.html

It might be a bit beyond what you need right now, but I'd say you should probably read it anyway at some point.

I've been experiencing major resource-hog issues the past several days, but I've been doing a lot of updating so it's not clear what's responsible, but I'm strongly suspecting AdAware2008 -- so for now I've removed it and am just running Comodo Firewall, BOClean, SpybotS&D and AVG8 - also a new program I just found out about called Advanced WindowsCare

http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

I just don't know how much is overkill. Comodo also has a new antivirus program, but I just don't want all my eggs in one basket at the moment...

4. I got a message
from SpybotS&D that it has some issues running with AdAware2008. I don't know the details.

5. Yeah, I saw that too
I think I upgraded/updated too many things all at the same time. I'll never learn.
