Is my PC infested?

Little things have been going wrong, oh so wrong.

First, I can't open Microsoft Word. I can import its files into WordPerfect, but I can't open them in Word. All other MSOffice programs are fine and dandy.

As of last night, in Firefox, I can't go to Get Mail, click on New Message, and have an email form open and ready for use. I CAN go into OutLook, click on New and have it appear.

I use free AVG for viruses. I'm on Verizon which checks incoming mail.

I don't know what's going on but it looks like a creeping nasty.

1. Have you done updates for MS Office?

Others in this forum were discussing a new update. I can't remember exactly what they said (either the update solved the problem or the update WAS the problem) but you might want to search and see about that.

If you end up having trouble with Office and give up, you might think about giving this a try: http://www.openoffice.org/. I was having some trouble with Office on Vista and switched after asking about it here. I don't know what to tell you about the Firefox issue, other than some offhand mentions I've heard about the new Beta version not working well with Gmail if you check Gmail on the website rather than in Outlook.
