Ad Aware question
I'm using the free stuff (of course!), but there haven't been any updates in quite a long time.

Is there a whole new version that I'm supposed to be switching to, or have there really not been definition updates in a while -- like 22 days?

Edit: Looks like major push to get everyone to upgrade.

Just found this message on support page:

Please note that, as of December 31, 2007, Lavasoft will not issue new Definitions File updates or provide technical support for Ad-Aware SE. For the latest protection, please update to Ad-Aware 2007.

2. Same here
I'm using an older version of AdAware (c2005) and don't really want to update as I've tried the new version on another computer and I think it's going the way of much good freeware; becoming too bloated and tricky for it's own good.

Latest update I downloaded is 27th Dec 2007.

3. We use AdAware 2007 on our network
No problems. Works just like the older SE version.

4. The Ad-Aware SE defs file is still being updated and released by LavaSoft.

It is still being released every Wednesday afternoon like it always was.

You just can't update the same way you used to. You have to go to the

LavaSoft website and D/L the latest defs file and install it manually.

It is compressed, so you will have to unZip it first then copy it over

to your LavaSoft\AdAwareSE folder or whatever you may have named it.

The latest defs file is dated 1-16-08. I hope this helps.

7. Here's a link to the SE defs update file.

{CLICK}

Click the green SE icon in the upper right corner of the page.

Keep in mind it's a compressed file

and you'll have to manually install it.

 :hi:

5. I had been getting that "definitions over 21 days old " message
but Ad-Aware would not update definitions. I removed the program and downloaded the new version from www.majorgeeks.com. It was the only way I could figure out what to do.

The new screen with scan results is a little confusing. The older one was more simple but I'm sure I'll get the hang of the new one shortly. Change like this throw this old granny off course.
