I have a networked printer that is capable of sending faxes. I'd like to be able to route documents from a user's workstation to the fax machine in the easiest way possible. We're using windows xp on the workstations and the fax/printer is a kyocera document center. And suggestions on an easy to use interface that will allow me to send a doc the the fax by ip address?
from Kyocera if they support it. XP will only natively support send fax to a a fax server. Usualy these plugins work through Outlook as a send mail service that routes to the document center. We use Xerox Workcenters and that's how it works here anyway.
but the problem with that is I'm going to have to install it on each workstation and then train each person to use it. If that's the best option short of buying a fax server then I guess that's what's going to have to happen.
Where in West Virginia are you? My family is from around Bluefield. We've been gone from there for years but that's where we were originally from.
Windows Server it is already part of the OS. Just have to activate it through add/remove Windows features. But that will not utilize the Doc center. You could always create a self installer for the plugin. Then leave it out on a net share and let the users install it and also send them a link to online documentation. I know they will read it /sarcasm :)
I still have users who call me because they're monitor is black. I push the power button and guess what, the computer powers up. Part of the job, though.
