2. I've got to feed the animals and head out to the grocery store
before all my neighbors show up there. This hour before everyone else is up and the house is quiet has always been my favorite. Happy Thanksgiving, Arkansas Granny. :)

3. I did the hand up the butt thing last night.
Edited on Thu Nov-24-11 11:13 AM by Denninmi
Seasoned it all over, put the vegetables, fruit, and giblets into the cavity, got on the rack, in the pan, brushed with oil, and put it in mother nature's refrigerator overnight (in the back of my car, low was 32 so it was perfect). Went into the over at 7:00 this morning. Easy peasy.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my C&B friends. You're the best.

:toast:

On edit to add: I was taking a short break - everything is either cooking or waiting to be cooked. Smells great in here. Pies, jello, and cranberries are still camped out in my car, outdoor temp is about 42 now, with overcast skies and a bit of a wind, so they'll be fine. Back to it! Later!

9. what fruit do you put in the cavity? I forgot to add lemon
and bay leaf this year- the cavity was a bit smaller than usual (farm turkey was only 17 pounds instead of last year's 20 plus), and I could not get the neck out... love that you use your car as a alternate fridge. Our new fridge is packed (some folks never through away take-out containers.. ahem), but we live in a city suburb and I suspect any stuff left in the car might go missing... :D
