"Shucking Corn--Clean Ears Everytime"
I haven't tried this yet but it looks like it's so easy. Hope I can find some fresh untrimmed corn soon to put this method to the test.

6. Hubby says it had to be by accident
We cook ours in the husk and in the microwave all the time. So maybe they did that, cut off the bottom then picked it up to start shucking and the corn cob fell out.

7. I bet you're right!
I like to microwave and peel the husks back into a handle and the silks clink to the husks.

But I am sure you're right that this was by accident. But what a great trick!

10. This is the first time I'm hoping for imports!
If I scrunch my eyes real tight I can almost see a bin of corn at Soopers. But I know better.

18. Yeah, it looks like serendipity to me, too
Around here, though, we need uncooked husks to save for tamales at Xmas.

Still, I'm going to try this one next year when that yummy Mexican butter and sugar corn starts to come in.

28. What is Mexican butter?
I've never heard of it. Seems like something that could use its own thread, too. :hi:

11. First, an easy way to peel garlic. Now shucking corn in seconds?
Blast you, DU-- shall you leave me NO morsel of hateful kitchen drudgery?

12. Well, you can always take on pomegranates since they're in season
I've been seeding them for freezing the past few days. They were on sale last week so I bought 10. It's been fun and made easier by putting them in a bowl of water to take them apart. But it's still kitchen drudgery at it's finest!

14. Oh good idea! Drudgery with a tasty reward here I come!
:)

BTW, what do you freeze them in-- bags, tupperware, ice trays?

15. I first freeze them on a cookie sheet that's lined with foil & cover them with waxed paper
After an hour or two I put them in quart sized freezer bags. The seeds of four poms can fit in each bag. I read that they can keep for about 3 months. But I'm keeping them in a deep freeze (not frost free) so I'll probably be able to keep them until they're available again next year.

Here's a video on an easy way to take them apart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHyqoeB0Wlk

26. Just hold them in a plastic bag and wack them with a spoon

Here's a video to give you an idea. I find doing it directly into a bag less messy

13. I *love* stuff like this. I wonder if that will work with grilled (in the husk) corn?

16. Only one way to find out!
But I wonder, too, if the steaming in the microwave helps loosen the silk. And maybe grilling dries them out for a different result. But heck, try it and let us know!

I'm thinking that here at a high altitude I might have to nuke them longer than 2 minutes each. I hope I can find some unshucked corn around here somewhere. :hi:

24. That's my problem, too. A little late for fresh ears of corn.
Hell, we had a near blizzard a few days ago starting just about 5 miles miles to the north!

19. I just saw this video today. Question--
Is the corn fully cooked when you take it out of the microwave or do you need to further cook it?
Have to wait until next year to try but it sounds good to me.

23. Microwaved corn tastes better than boiled, imo
It's the only way we've cooked it in recent years.
