One of our very own, someone who supports this forum unconditionally with lots of love and advice, needs your support.

1. Thank you, HW & C&Bers
I guess my secret is out now, as to why I don't post here so often these days. After 3 years of mostly "recreational" eating with a feeding tube for my main nutritional needs, several months ago I largely gave up the recreational eating and have relied entirely on the tube (almost!). I still read here, daily - often multiple times per day - but, sadly, don't have much to contribute to the "what's for dinner"/"what are you cooking" threads. I've lived alone for a long time, so much as I love to bake and like to cook, I haven't done much baking lately and even less cooking. My interest in food, cooking and baking is intact, however... I still read the weekly supermarket ads, look at recipes and cookbooks, and dream about making great things to eat - especially great desserts!

I'm still around, and think of C&B as my "home forum" on DU, and think of many here as family. I love reading what each of you are doing and contributing wherever I can.

You guys are the best!!!

3. Darlin'...
if I could have one wish right this moment of all the things I could wish for I wish for you to be able to eat again, for all of this never to have happened to you at all. If it were in my power to reverse it all, I would.

Yes, m'dear you are family. :loveya:

4. This is home for me too sweetie.
I have seriously cut back on what I was eating because of my health problems but I still love reading and researching yummy foods, so I understand, to a much lesser degree in my own experience, what you mean.

7. You don't realize how much you contribute to these discussions
esp. the baking ones. Your wealth of knowledge and sound advice have doubtless saved many from making the mistakes that ruin a good loaf, cake, or whatever. We appreciate you!!!

8. You are so brave to share your story and I join everyone else in wishing you
weren't limited to the tube. We're so lucky to have you here and so glad you've stuck around.

:yourock: too.

9. Housewolf, thank you
for sharing your story. And quite a story it is too.

You are an amazing human being. The casual cruelty that we inflict on each other in the name of "getting on with it" or worse, laughing at the misfortune of others, is something that pains me greatly.

And you're right, this is IMO, the best forum at DU.

12. I would propose a tour of local bakeries.....but neither one of us could do more than look!
Well, we could smell the aromas I guess. I'm so sorry to hear of your story, and I add to the comments of those who thank you for telling others. You're an example to many.

Are you very close in proximity at all, do you know? :hi:

16. I think we are probably less than fifty miles, on different sides of the city and..
...with a river down the middle. I'm pretty housebound these days, though. The knee. It's just far enough to the bus stop and grocery to make it hurt the rest of the day.

18. I'm on the eastern side of Washington Coutny
not far from the 26. Gosh, I didn't know you were car-less! I hope your bus stop is close, and I hope, too, that your knee will quit paining you! It sounds exhausting. The only semi-good thing is that it's winter, if one's gotta be housebound, this is the best time of year for it. I don't get out much, either, more from lack of energy and incentive than anything else. Hope you can get that knee fixed up - and soon!

15. Oh that would be fun! i can't help it, I still love to visit bakeries
and I haven't spent much time looking for them here in Portland, but whenever I walk into a supermarket I head for the bakery department and just look and long... and tell myself that it doesn't matter, supermarket bakeries aren't good anyway! LOL! I can't help looking and dreaming - and sometimes I'll bring something home and try to eat a few bites of it. I guess that's why I have so many (and continue to buy!) gorgeous baking books - a vicarious feasting of the eyes, I guess.

I still love to look .... and dream.

17. there's a pie place over in North Portland that I'd like to check out some day.
I'm still tinkering with the idea of opening a tiny pie shop.
