Out of cornmeal :(

I have a three rivers corn bread mix so I think I will make it instead. Hope it turns out well...don't usually use a mix for cornbread...but its in the pantry...might as well use it :)

Will definitely try the Anadama soon. Will let you know how it turns out!

3. I've made the one out of the Betty Crocker Breads book many times.
It's similar, but I don't remember if it has molasses, and it definitely doesn't have as much sweetener as this recipe.

Let us know how it turns out.

4. I will!
It's supposedly not too sweet - and can easily go savory depending on what you do with it. I'm looking forward to trying it soon.

5. That is a beautiful thing. And I'll bet it tastes wonderful too...lol.
You've inspired me. I just made a HUGE pot of some of the best chicken/veg soup ever. I think using half chicken/half turkey stock helped, along with too many veggies to mention.
That Anadama loaf would be the perfect compliment.

I posted a recipe for Anadama from Mother Jones magazine some time ago. I'll have to find my copy and compare the two recipes to see what, if any, differences there are.

8. I used to make it a lot back in New England
with maple syrup as the sweetener. It was great toasting bread, the cornmeal giving it additional crispness. It was OK sandwich bread, best with peanut butter or veggie spreads. It would also make great French toast.
