Today...I made this




I haven't tucked into it yet and frankly using almost a pound and a half of butter in the recipe I'm not sure I'll survive even a small piece. But I'm gonna try it anyway....:rofl:

I've never had luck with yeast doughs....But this one just came out perfect. I feel awesome!

4. 2 questions...

The topping called for 2 packs of vanilla sugar along with 3/4 cup sugar, what did you use?


And just how good WAS it? It looks yummy!:9

5. Well....

I took a vanilla bean and scraped it into all the sugar. Then I left the remnants of the pod in the sugar overnight to make vanilla sugar.

I was so thrilled that this came out looking so beautiful. My yeast actually rose correctly and the cake was a beautiful texture. It was all I remembered it to be except....It was bland. I'm glad I made it. Most of it is packed up and in husbands car for him to take to work. I'm not sure what it was lacking. I think I might have liked it more with a hint of almond extract. It had a light vanilla essence and although you could tell there was lots of butter in it...It didn't have an overwhelmingly buttery flavor. It was just .....Meh.

I got my craving satisfied though...So I'm a contented woman. For now anyways. :rofl:
