My new pizza peel.
A very dear friend knew I was having trouble with dough sticking to my metal peel so I hadn't been using it. So she surprised me with a gift yesterday. It's bamboo and she also ordered a bottle of oil to be sent with it. It's really beautiful. :D

1. That is gorgeous!
I'd be afraid to use it! Mine has all sorts of carbon marks and burns all over it.

That's really beautiful! Nice friend!

:hi:

I'm going to use it probably Friday for the first time.

Another friend also sent me this huge fair trade "blessing basket" made in Ghana, which I'm going to use to shop for my produce so I don't have to use those nasty plastic bags.

It's not even my birthday or anything. I have wonderful friends. :D

I really do have some of the most wonderful friends. I feel very fortunate every day to have them. Their friendships are the true gifts in my life, even though they are far away in miles, they are very close in spirit.

9. You know they're good friends when...

... they know precisely what you need and would bring you pleasure.

The gifts are doubly blessed because of that.
Lucky Hippywife, I'll bet you're just as good a friend in return. :pals:

10. Housewolf and Tesha...
all I can say is that I hope I am as good a friend to them as they are to me. I do try. Plus I think we all see things that make us think, "Oh! I bet my friend, (whoever), would love that!"

13. I had really resigned myself
to doing without that and the baking stone, which I broke. My old heavy crockpot with the heavy all glass lid lets me bake it wonderfully, and I get to eliminate the step of throwing a cup of hot water into a broiler pan in the bottom of the oven. That always scares me! LOL The other way I've been baking it really quickly is just sitting on parchment paper in a round metal cake pan. Not the best, but it works just fine in a pinch.

There are lots of threads in this forum about baking bread. I think we spent a good chunk of time all experimenting with various recipes. If you do a search, you'll come up with lots of info.

It really is worth doing. Hope you give it a try. And welcome to the group. :hi:

12. GORGEOUS!
Looks like a piece of furniture! Do you have a 'pantry' where it can be displayed?

14. Nah...
I'm gonna hang it from a hook on the pot rack with the other one. I think my friend would be disappointed if I treated it gingerly and didn't use it for its intended purpose. :)
