I saw it at the store today and was tempted to buy it, but I've never had it. It looks like salmon, but what does it taste like? Is it bony? How do you cook it?

I don't like it as much as wild salmon but it's a good firm fleshed fish. It has it's own unique flavor. I tend to cook it in foil with lemon and whatever herbs I have around stuffed in the cavity. My neighbor the fisher cooks his halved with a slathering of mayonaise and dill on top. It's the way his mom did it and it's what he likes. Try it! It's also really good on the grill.
it's my understanding that trout and salmon are of the same family. Doesn't mean they will taste the same or even similar, but I don't really know.
I'm still waiting for a rainbow trout breakfast. We like to camp and my husband keeps telling me there's nothing tastes as good as rainbow trout broiled in butter over the campfire for breakfast. I have yet to experience this. :eyes:
On edit: I asked my husband and he says steelhead does taste more like salmon than trout. Hope that helps. :hi:
