Late Night Culinary Lunacy

I have insomnia. The changing of the clocks always does it. I slept a few hours on the friggin' couch this afternoon. That undid me. I went to bed at midnight. Fell asleep. Woke up an hour later. Been paddin' around a while. Then I got hungry.

I took one of these:


..... dipped it twice into this:


..... licked it clean both times, and then did the same thing with this:


..... then finished things off with two teaspoons of dessert:


... then said my evening prayer:

Please God, let me sleep.

No worry about getting up tomorrow, however. The heartburn will take care of that at about 6.30 .....

but the heartburn from that combo would do it within half an hour for me, and I'd be munching Tums for the rest of the night.

My typical "can't sleep" snack is pain medication with a plain rice cake to keep it company in my tummy.

Works like a charm.

Besides, she never eats this stuff. All the gooey/kiddie stuff in the house if for me ... the local kid.

That much sugar and I'd be up for a week.

My midnight snack when I can't sleep is 1 of these:

you just ate and went back to bed? My husband got up and ate, leftover steak, I imagine peanut butter rolled in a tortilla, most likely some pretzels and whatever else he wanted, which is just fine with me, cause this morning he showed me, while he was up, he designed the perfect stained glass window for the bathroom reno!!!

So, did you at least wash the spoon?

And I know you were STANDING THERE, cause you're a guy!! LOL! Why do guys insist on eating over the sink? Well at least you used a spoon instead of your fingers.

11. about the time you wrote that post.....

...late at night, I was spreading Hellman's on a piece of thick nutty whole wheat bread, sprinkling with dill weed, stacking same with sliced English cucumber and slices of a really good tomato, a grind of pepper ...yum. All the while knowing that my number one heartburn source is mayo. I don't know why that is. Mayo=heartburn for me. Of course earlier in the evening I had partaken of pulled pork and tasted a thai chicken-basil-lime-coriander salad on someone else's plate.

Thank goodness for pepcid.
