Okay ..... I cop to being creatively weird. But before you keelhaul me for outright insanity, think about the tastes and you'll have to admit .... it all kinda made sense ...... except for one thing, which I will name at the end.

We had:

Grilled calamari. Marinated in a lime and cilantro and fish sauce mix and then grill on very high heat and very quickly. The tentacles were the very best part.

Grilled clams. Just placed on the grill till they opened, the juice drunk from each of them, a clam knife judiciously placed into service, and then the briny morsels tossed back one after the other.

Grilled Falafel .... with Tzatziki sauce. Wonderful.

Spicy Chinese long beans in garlic sauce. Done on the side burner of the grill in a big-assed wok. Could never do this inside without setting off the smoke alarm. "Delish" is too weak a descriptor.

Grilled fennel - very simple - olive oil and kosher salt. Nice grill marks. Coooked but crunchy. A palliative as well as a vegetable.

A reheatd half of a Sbarro's spinach and mozzarella Stromboli with leftover marinara sauce.

:uurp: ....s'cuze me

So which didn't go?

Ya .... the Stromboli ... which was awful when it was fresh.

2. Blame Sparkly ...... she kept it from Sbarro's and she insisted it not go to waste
Nobody ate it tonight. SparklyJr tried and said "no thanks". Sparkly tried it and said "uhhh .... ooops ..... never mind".

6. Friday night ...... we had to be someplace until 6 PM. There we had to be someplace at 7 PM.
Both were near the Mall. It was POURING rain. The parking near the actual restaurants (none of which are connected to the Mall) was crowded. We wound up parking at the entrance to Macy's, which is the farthest spot from any food court. We got to the food court with only about 10 minutes to actually order and eat before having to race back the full distance of the Mall to get to Macy's to get out to our car and get where we needed to be.

Sbarro and Auntiy Ann's Pretzels were the only two stalls with no lines.

Which is a message all on its own, isn't it?

Andyeah , apart from tray color, that picture of yours is exactly what we had.

until the Stromboli. Really, if I'm gonna eat something like that left over, it's best to leave it cold.

Your dinner sounds abfab otherwise. :hi:
