1. Chile and chocolate are one of those very basic Mexican combos
and if you've never had the combination of sweetness and bitterness from chocolate with a mild burn from chile, you're way past due to try it.

I have no idea what Lindt has done with the combination. I just know hot chocolate has a lot more zing with a pinch of hot chile powder in it.

5. We bought a bar today
Not very hot at all ..... very mild heat aftertaste. No heat when eating it.

It didn't do anything for me one way or another.

11. When it's done right, you'll understand.
The first time I ever tried the chile/chocolate combo, was with a slice of Z'Tejas Ancho Chile Pie my husband brought home after a gig. Bless him for that.

It is the best. Lindt makes a better milk chocolate than they do dark IMHO.

6. We tried it today ... hence this post
No real heat while eating it. Just the slightest hint of heat in the aftertaste. All in all, no big deal for us.

7. Vosges makes a chili bar too
that I really like.

I got started on this kick the first time I watched the film Chocolat. In it the heroine, Vianne, is a chocolatiere with Mayan ancestry. She makes her chocolate candies with chili peppers.

most things chocolate. Chili powder should work as well.

(And I throw some cocoa into the chili.)

18. Oh, Stinky, don't knock it 'til you've tried it. It's a VERY nice treat,
unusual but not icky in the least.

Somebody makes a chocolate with dried cherries and chiles, too, and that's also good. Chile and chocolate is the traditional Aztec way, IIRC.

She sent me a trial pack yesterday and I'm ashamed to admit that I ate all eight pieces. It was rich and dark and full of anti-oxidants and probotics. It was really good but far more expensive than what I can purchase at TJ's or even my local chocolate store. I once again had an opportunity to learn that I just can't be around the stuff without going overboard and out of control. Sorry friend but I won't be joining your down line. It would be far too expensive to my wallet and waist line.

They have a drink and several different kinds of candies and bars. They use a very high quality dark chocolate and add pro-botics and anti oxidents like acai. They market it through their independent distributors just like Tupperware or Avon. If you are interested PM me and I'll hook you up with my friend for more info.... I was surprised at how good it was...But I can't have it around me. :cry:

I certainly don't know why. I made a batch of chile and cleaned out the freezer of peppers. I don't recall the names nor their heat index, but it was almost too hot to eat. I ate a couple of little sample bowls and froze the rest. Let's hope the freezer mellows it out :-)
