Oh, Lucindaaaaaaaa!
My neighbor gave me some of her ancient sourdough starter so I'm going to make another attempt at keeping up with it. I have labeled it and made everyone in my house swear to leave it alone.

So are you going to remind me to feed it properly? ;-)

1. Too cool!
Do you like pancakes?
I think that's the best way to handle the feeding until you're psychotically addicted to baking.
Yank some out for pancake making and feed it once a week and it will live forevah.

Hope your family is better behaved than Bill's. I still can't believe Bill's brother chucked flour into the whole container's worth of starter and baked it.

I'm very excited for ya!

4. I assume Bill's brother lived to tell the tale?
I'm pretty sure it was my mother who threw out my starter once thinking something had gone bad. She doesn't come over much any more but when she did, she had this thing about cleaning out the fridge.

The bread came out great! I made it in two smaller loaf pans and one larger. The teenage termites ate one loaf already.

Do you ever use convection for yours?

5. Excellent! Bill's brother is still alive and well and
has provided me a lifetime of "I cant believe he did that!!!" storytelling. :D

I don't have convection. :(
I used all of my extra kitchen budget when I bought the induction cooktop. Which I love. I am about to go oven browsing. I have designed a wall oven again for the kitchen in the new house, but I'm baking all the time and I think I may want to do something different.

Do you have convection? Recommend it?

2. Sourdough info
I used to run a bread forum. The forum is gone now but some of the information remains. You'll find a link to my page of sourdough information here:
http://www.angelfire.com/ab/bethsbread/FrontPage.html

There's a lot of useful stuff there.

3. Thank you! I will check it out.
I am planning to teach my boys how to make this bread. I wonder how long I can keep my starter going!
