Thieving bastards III

Not even on the counter for 40 seconds...

The Shih-Tzu (the top one) wasn't responsible, as far as I know, but I swear it wasn't on the counter 40 seconds as we were bringing in the groceries...

I can credit them/him for good taste, but damn. That key lime pie was not for him.

Sheesh.

1. I hate when that happens.
One time I was baking cupcakes when I stupidly turned my back to answer the phone. I was on the phone for maybe, maybe 30 seconds. I thought it was safe because I was standing in the kitchen, not far from the cupcakes. When I turned around, 7 cupcakes were missing - foil liners and all. Not a crumb on the floor, no other cupcakes knocked over, no noise had been made, no evidence anywhere. Just three smiling snouts looking up at me with their best innocent faces. Stinking thieves.

4. You'd be contented too
if you just scarfed down a whole key lime pie.

3. Many years ago, when I was still a teenaged clown .....
..... I was eating supper. For some reason, it was just my Mom and me. So we were eating on teevee tables in the den while watching teevee. Macaroni with meatballs. Her dog, Pepper, was sitting and staring at the meatballs, so temptingly close to her head. I turned to say something to my mother and she laughed and yelled at the same time ... "PEPPER!!!!". I turned to see the dog's head retreating, with a meatball held oh so gently in her teeth.

I grabbed her snout and made her give up the meatball.

I then put it back in my dish and ate it.

This bespeaks ......

a) the greatness of Mom's meatballs?

b) the stupidity of teenaged clowns?

c) my love for Pepper, so great that I don't fear doggiespit?

5. I vote for (b), stupidity of teenaged clowns

I'm not going to grab anything from my dog (which wouldn't be possible anyway, since it disappears in seconds) and put it in my mouth.

But, hey, that's what clowns are for.

8. I have come to the conclusion that a little dog spit is not harmful. I had a hard time
convincing my children that they should not share their treats with the dog. The way it went was kid takes a bite and then offers it to the dog for a bite and then the kid takes another bite. All of my children survived to adulthood despite the dog spit they ingested in that manner. Maybe it gave their immune systems a boost. It's not something I would advocate, but I wasn't able to prevent it entirely.

6. A WHOLE Key Lime Pie????
oh my gosh, I hope they're not sick today!

Sorry for your loss, though... the sad disappointment of losing a Key Lime pie to thieving dogs...

7. Now you know why I live with a cat.
Well, there was one cat who developed a taste for butter, but by and large, they're not ambitious enough to do much thievery.

9. A friend of mine had a cat that snagged a pork chop out of the skillet while
they were cooking on the stove. I wouldn't have imagined it possible, but I was there when he did it. That cat had so many tricks that we were convinced that he had thumbs that he kept hidden from us humans.

10. My butter loving cat figured doorknobs out
so there was no way to keep her in or out of any room in the house.

12. I've been lucky in recent years. My cats sneak up on the kitchen counters
when I am sleeping or watching tv sometimes, but they hate citrus and most other foods I eat, lol. So they wouldn't have done anything to the pie except maybe give it a tiny quick lick.

Of course, I learned years ago to not leave yummy meats and stuff sitting out.
