Whats for Dinner? ~ Tuesday the 24rd
Not sure here. We need to make a trip to the store.

What's for dinner where you are?

1. pork spareribs.
I'm cooking them in the crockpot. I'm not a very big fan of the crockpot. The only things, so far, I've found turn out well is pork roast w/bbq sauce for pulled pork and chicken breasts with taco seasoning to be used for chicken fajitas. Hopefully, the ribs will become a new favorite....we'll see.

2. My crockpot is 15 years old & never been used - how bad is that?

14. Use it!
The house will be so fragrant.

You can make a very delicious chocolate pudding cake in it that's divine. I mean it, it really is decadent.

15. Can I persuade you to add it to the cake recipe thread?
:hi: I never use my crockpot for anything fun. Cake would be a nice change of pace from the roasts I usually make.

3. Mahi-Mahi with a pineapple salsa over rice - broc on the side
finally made the new brownie recipe last night. Definitely need to start a thread on that one when I have the time. Quite the interesting recipe - a bit of a conundrum as well.

9. Now I'm really curious!
Hope to see the brownie post soon. :)
And I'd really love some broccoli right now.

4. Not BLTs...
BBTs, "with".

Artisan-in-5 bread is cooled. Bacon, sliced tomatoes and whole fresh basil sandwich "with" sprinkle of gorganzola.

It has turned to Spring here.

10. Oh my goodness that sounds sooo good!
We ended up with breakfast. Which was also good.
And pumpkin pie. :)

5. One pot cooking
In an old silver seal pot, I'm browning some of the Whole Foods purchase - 2 turkey sausages and 2 chicken sausages made with spinach, garlic, feta and basil. Later, I'll add some carmelized onions with sweet red pepper, some sweet green pepper and potatoes. I don't know about adding any more herbs for flavor. Seems like the sausages have everything I need for this meal. But I'll taste test later. Right now, the kitchen smells great.

Waiting to hear about what you two decided!

11. We went with breakast. And I added a side of "head cold"
Seems like my icky has decided to become a full blown cold. But I could taste things today. So weird. LOL

I LOVE the sound of the chicken sausages. It ALL sounds delicious.

Our local pub serves a version of bangers and mash with chicken, asiago and spinach sausages, with onion gravy, that's pretty good. I think I'd like your sausages even more. I love feta with spinach.

6. a blast from the past
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 06:47 PM by grasswire
Hamburger stroganoff, made with browned burger, caramelized diced red onion and crimini mushrooms, diced celery, some worcestershire, some dill weed, and sour cream stirred in after degreasing. Served with some buttered noodles, a broccoli chopped salad, and blueberry cornmeal muffins.

Also making my family favorite oatmeal-raisin cookies and going to start the BIGA for Lucinda's Italian loaf if I don't run out of steam.

Pies at the coffee house today were brown sugar-peach, blueberry with a hint of lemon zest, and cherry. The fruit pies are doing better than the custard or cream pies right now. (Although the coconut custard sells very quickly.)

12. I like the sound of the lemon zest with the blueberry. I've never tried that,
I do use a hit of lemon or lime in fruit sorbets, and have noticed how they enhance the flavor of the other fruit.

Your dinner sounds wonderful. Nice warm noodle-y goodness sounds good to me!
Just answered your post about the biga. Hope it'd doing ok...?

7. Pizza
Sausage, onion, green pepper and olive topping. Recipe makes enough for two days, so will reprise later in the week also.

13. We keep talking about making pizza, and Hunphrey soup, and just don't ever get there.
I want them both soon.
Your toppings sound great! Sausage, onion and peppers are perfect together, and I'm an olive junkie. :)
