Anyone ever have Lexington Red Slaw?
I've never tasted it, but I found what's purported to be the "authentic" recipe, and I find it quite intriguing. I would like to know what others think of it:

1. It's hilarious!
a 1/4 tsp. of red pepper for 100 lbs. of cabbage! It looks interesting on a grand scale, though.

2. That recipe is bogus
Everyone knows it is only *5* quarts of ketchup.

3. Lexington NC, BBQ Capital of the World, is 13 miles from my front door.
About once a year I am hungry enough as I drive through this tiny Southern town to buy a chopped BBQ sandwich, some hushpuppies, and a small helping of the ketchup slaw.
Afterwards I suffer from heartburn and regret to have done this to myself.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Actually, that slaw recipe looks like it would produce exactly what I am talking about.

5. The recipe just confounds me..........
Usually I can taste a recipe just by reading it, but this one is so off, I can't quite grasp it. It puts me off, though, and I think I'm gonna stay with my favorite - Famous Dave's Cole Slaw Recipe - http://www.recipezaar.com/Famous-Daves-Creamy-Sweet-Sour-Coleslaw-149941

Everybody loves that particular slaw.

But, I have to tell you, Mira, that I get heartburn from barbeque sandwiches, no matter where I've tried them. It might be the bread, although I wolf down burgers and hot dogs and toast made from that same soft white bread. I don't know what it is, but it's something in the barbeque, I think.

6. you mean that vinegar-y BBQ?
I was quite surprised the first time I had NC BBQ at a little joint off the main road. Quite!

4. Great accompaniment to BBQ
coleslaw is!

Minus the ketchup for me. I like cabbage, pepper, and a little sweet pickling juice off some bread and butter pickles. :9 :9
