Being a part of this group...
has been a wonderful influence on my skills and courage to take on more difficult and varied challenges in the kitchen.

I want to just take time to show my appreciation for everyone in this group who so willing share their triumphs as well as their failures, allowing us all to learn together from them both. And I do mean willingly and openly. How many of us have known people that almost religiously guard recipes as if they were classified information, refusing to share them with anyone? I know I have.

Thank you to each of you! :loveya:

Thank you so much. And I really do miss having you around more. Too bad we don't live closer, we could do a little meal sharing.

 :loveya:

5. I've known only a few that wouldn't share.
But I've certainly known a LOT more who love to share! My first taste of sharing were wedding gifts in 1971. Jenny down the street (96 years old) purchased a blank cutesy notebook and filled it with her handwritten favorite recipes. My Mom added hers, also. I think most cooks love to share.

The other was a gift from a best friend back then. A 3-ring recipe book divided by type and filled with her handwritten favorites and pockets to store other recipes I collected.

I may not use the recipes so much, but the memories are precious.

For the few who don't share, what a shame to take something to the grave never to be remembered as theirs.

I have collected friends' recipes (many hand scribbled on napkins with their name) and have most of them in books w/the photo type pages that have plastic.

Woo hoo - now we have computers/internet connections - and MAJOR sharing. I love it!

7. shhh...don't tell anybody....
but this is the best group at DU. There. I said it.

My foodie friends all like to share recipes.

I have a funny sharing story. Shortly after I was married, I attended a wedding shower for someone on dh's side of the family. His aunt made a delicious dish and I asked her for the recipe. It wasn't a family secret or anything and I don't even think it was her own making, but she gave me the recipe and I wrote on the card "From Aunt Jane."

I made it many times for the family, and when someone would ask, I'd say "It's Aunt Jane's recipe."

Years later, I made it for a family event and Aunt Jane was there. (For whatever reason, we don't see the aunts as much as the others.) Anyway, somebody asked about the recipe and I told them I got it from her and she INSISTED she had never made it. She swears she was not the one who gave me the recipe. SWEARS it had to have been someone else! lol. I didn't try to argue but I think it's funny she's so adamant about it!

I don't spend as much time here as I should. This is an amazing group and resource.
