Real estate listing for the dedicated foodies around here...
http://re.boston.com/sales/View_UListing.asp?lid=2095-103IrvingCmbrdg

Once home to beloved culinary icon, Julia Child, this historical home in Cambridge’s Professors’ Row has been architect designed and thoughtfully renovated. Beautifully landscaped grounds, spacious brick patio, protected parking under the Porte Cochere, over 6,000 square feet of living space on three floors and a finished basement. 1st Floor - Formal marble entry opens to a spacious foyer with hardwood floors and high ceilings. Custom crown moldings and wood baseboards throughout. ... Formal dining room with hardwood floors, custom draperies and fireplace. Oversized Italian kitchen with custom cabinetry, marble countertops and marble and stainless steel backsplashes. Oversized center island with marble counter and built-in Kuppersbusch Okotherm oven. Appliances include Miele cooktop, Miele dishwasher, ISE disposal, Sub-Zero regrigerator/freezer. Butler’s pantry includes Sub-Zero wine cooler, Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, Miele oven & Sharp microwave.

I suspect that the "thoughtful renovation" included more than a few changes in her well known kitchen.

1. Goosebumps! I got goosebumps...
I bet it's a lovely home. It's almost too bad it'll remain a private home. It would be so cool if it could be a cooking school for a few students at a time who would live there while studying. <sigh>

2. A friend of mine was inside, back when Julia lived there.

It was beautiful. The pictures at the real estate listing show a rather nice place and in the context of the crazy high real estate prices in Cambridge it's not even that expensive. John Kenneth Galbraith lived in the same area as well as many other notables connected with Harvard. If I were made of money...

Julia's kitchen was rebuilt at the Smithsonian. There's also a replica in Napa.

on edit: I'd buy the house just in case Julia's haunting it.

7. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Getting haunted by Julia Child. What a concept.

(I think you just gave me a story idea!)
