Need help completing my menu; looking for a good dessert recipe
Edited on Tue May-20-08 05:34 PM by Onlooker
I'm making dinner for a few friends. This is what I'm making:

Sultan's delight, creamed eggplant (http://www.recipezaar.com/95402) I just had this at a good Turkish restaurants and it was incredible)
Leeks vinaigrette and lamb stew (http://www.recipelink.com/ch/bow/101298/fci.html)
Salad of some sort.

I'll also make bread.

But, I need a good interesting dessert recipe, preferably one I can make a day or two early. Any ideas?

Thanks.

1. I think I might go with something
Edited on Tue May-20-08 05:56 PM by hippywife
along the lines of a sorbet or lemon tarts, maybe. Sounds like there are a lot of complex flavors already on the menu so something simple, light, refreshing and palette cleansing might be just what's called for. :hi:

2. Agreed, and I'd add a granita
or just a platter of fruit and cheese.

It definitely needs something light and cleansing.

3. I'd go with a fruit, cheese and galab jamun assortment.

You can make the galab jamun the day ahead. It's better that way anyway. I add a lemon peel to my soaking liquid instead of the rose water. I also add a little extra cardamom. The recipe I use is on wiki. Here's the link. It's really easy and not as time consuming as you might think. You do need to make them the day ahead though for soaking time.

I'd serve with a platter of assorted exotic fruits and some cheese.
