....I'm bemused by the swanky vast gadgety side-by-side that came with our new place, I miss my simple old-fashioned up-and-down. Where do you put BIG things in skinny little space like this? Like frozen pizzas have to be stacked diagonally, how dumb is THAT? Cookie trays of berries to freeze? I have to use 2 small ones, one on each shelf, and stuff everything else into the other shelves. Whose idea of good design was this?

And I never wanted a stupid old ice-and-water dispenser on the door, anyway. It'll probably bust many years before the fridge or freezer gives out.

Oh, well. It's 'premium,' I guess. Fooey.

6. Side by side fridges are nice in a tight space.

The doors require less space to open. Other than that, I don't really get their popularity. They are also less energy efficient than any other type of fridge.

The ice and water feature adds a lot to the price of a fridge. I don't much care for the way they look. (Can you tell that I just bought a new fridge?)

11. HA! That's one thing I'll never get

that in the door doodad for water and ice. I can see it has a point if you're in a houseold with a mob of kids, keeps them from opening the door every five minutes for a glass of iced water, but I live alone and my cats prefer their water at room temperature, thanks.

Now they're making the damn things with water doodads on one side and an LCD TV and CD player on the other.

Those rich folks sure do find dumb things to waste their money on.

5. my old one had a bottom freezer and they're GREAT! but this house

wouldn't take the smallest one. I bought the biggest refer I could find that would fit in the space and still have door functionality

I'm just whining, I'll adapt I'm sure :(

have you looked at the "refrigerator only" for next time? I don't know what sizes they come in. A friend has one, but their's looks as big as a 22cf. It's hard to tell, because she has the fridge-only and the freezer-only sitting side-by-side and together, and all that stainless looks huge.

Years ago, When SO wanted to keep our old fridge in the garage as a spare, I thought he was nutso. In this house the spare is a side by side and has moved into a large closet in the family room and stocks all the liquids and mega freezer overload!
