I want to share the recipe I came up with (after 5 years of trying) for soft and cakey chocolate chip cookies. I'm not sure how many people like them this way but the toll house recipe is too crispy for me. These are like my gram used to make. People at work have raved about them.
Jeffs Chocolate Chip Cookies
Preheat oven to 350
2 sticks butter room temp 1 cup brown sugar ½ sugar 3 eggs 1 tbs. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda ½ tsp. salt 3 cups flour 1 ½ cups semi sweet chocolate chips
Cream together butter, sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add baking soda and salt. Add flour one cup at a time. Dough will be stiff and sticky. Add chips. Blend just until combined.
Drop rounded tbs. onto cookie sheet and bake 8-9 minutes turning sheet once while baking. Centers should be somewhat paler then outsides. Cool on rack for 15 min. Remove to plastic bag. This makes them soft.
