An appliance out of exile
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 02:46 PM by eleny
I have one of these Burton stove top grills but without the handles. An earlier version.

It had been shoved to the back/bottom of a cupboard for a few years. Today, I'm preparing Empress's chicken enchilada casserole and decided to use the Burton to brown the chicken breasts. I'm so glad that I never gave it away. It did a great browning job and it's dishwasher safe!

Do you have any appliances collecting dust? I'm now thinking of the pasta machine that's back in the pantry. I was using it to make meatballs and then sent it into exile. It really does make great meatballs and saves my hands.

1. I always lusted after one of those but
could never quite justify the expense. I finally ended up with a Le Creuset round grilling pan from Ebay, something I love but which is a pain in the butt to clean. It does a good enough job that I still use it a lot.

I guess the appliance that is gathering the most dust is the combination waffle iron/grill. It eats up counter or table space I don't have to spare if I use it and I don't use it often enough to justify the space.

Ah, the thrift shop beckons.

2. I just resurrected the hand crank pasta roller
I don't know how I lived without it for so long.

3. The toaster
We don't eat that much bread and so the toaster is now gathering dust.

And the garlic press. I just use a knife now.

4. Our garlic press is in exile, too
I just put the flat of the knife over it and smack the garlic.
