Don't set up the crock pot the night before
It'll drive you crazy and deprive you of sleep. It's a monster!

1. Um, what did it do?
Invade your dreams and give you nightmares? I hate it when small kitchen appliances attack, especially in the wee hours.

2. The fragrances drove us wild
I put in a piece of beef, a can of tomatoes and a can of beef broth, garlic, pearl onions and assorted herbs. It's been maddening.

3. Ahh, lots of drooling on the pillow, too,
while dreaming about yummy stew :)

4. Those devious appliances
My brother told me the story of how he first used his bread-making machine on a timer. He set it for fresh bread when they got up. Put in all the ingredients and plugged it in in the bedroom. In the middle of the night, it started mixing the ingredients. Whup-whup-whup-whup for several minutes. Loud. Woke him and his wife up. Scared the hell out of them until they figured out what it was.

5. The first time my husband's coffee grinder went off at 6 a.m.
I thought he was out in the woodshop running a router! :D
