I used to be able to find the small purple potatoes. They grew them in the San Luis Valley area here in Colorado. But there wasn't a call for them and I can't get them now. They were great to slice thick and bake as a chewy "fry". and I love the idea of purple food. Red cabbage, purple peppers, purple potatoes.

3. We got these in our CSA farm box,
but I've also bought them at local grocery stores and at Uwajimaya (the big Japanese grocery stores in the Seattle area).

I've also gotten purple sweet potatoes. They're beige on the outside, but when you cook them and cut them open, their flesh is this beautiful lavender.
