How many will an 18lb turkey serve?

Ok I know it's Friday but we went out to friends for Thanksgiving and we were going to have a turkey tomorrow for the leftovers. Now I got 12-14 coming. I got an 18lb bird will it make enough for everyone?

1. Depends on the tastes and appetites of the people .......

An 18 pounder *might* be cutting it close. You gotta figure a turkey yields about 50% edible meat (white and dark combined). So that's 9 lbs of meat. at 16 oz per pound, that's 144 oz. Say 6 oz per person (that's not all that much). That's a seemingly okay 24 servings. If it skews to more white or dark meat, it gets close.

I'd go with it. just have lots of dressing (which is nice .... and cheap ..... and filling!).

at Butterball and like you said it just makes it. Going to make more side dishes and lots of cheese and crackers too! Fill them up. It started out with just six people but the group just grew.
