where's the best place to buy an iphone
I am out of contract with ATT and need a new phone. There is an ATT store not too far from me and an Apple store almost an hour away. Does it matter?

1. They will be much more helpful hardwarewise at the Apple Store.
But in the end, you'll find most of the help you'll need at apple.com for after your purchase.

You pay the same either way.

Personally, I'd travel the hour, but the Apple Store is my personal toy store, so I am probably not a balanced source.

It may not be worth your time.

2. I bought mine at an Apple store.

The hardest part of the transaction was finding someone to help me. (It was damned busy that day.)

Once I had a salesperson, the whole thing took 6 minutes and I was out the door.

P.S. I set up the whole thing the day before online here:

3. Best Buy - nope, store doesn't matter as long as they sell it and the AT&T service.
After upgrading to 3.1.0, I've seriously thought using the protection plan I bought to swap the thing.

If the next version doesn't fix the automobile SYNC sound system problem, I will replace for a 3.0.1 model and never upgrade again.
