Will a wireless non-Mac keyboard work with a Mac Mini?
I have a Mac Mini on the way. I also have a Rosewill RKM-800RF wireless keyboard and mouse combo here at home. The specs say nothing about Mac. So, will this standard keyboard work? Or will I need to buy a proper Mac keyboard?

Thank you very much for your insights. :hi:

1. I think it could work just fine.
The OS recognizes classes of devices through the connection type.

You'll have to map some keyboard shortcuts yourself. (e.g. combinations using the 'command' (apple) key.) Easy enough to do in System Preferences under Keyboard and Mouse.

3. I have several keyboards I use with my mac: with the non mac keyboard, certain
keys don't seem to have the same functionality -- for example, I have no idea what key/combo would eject the optical disk

5. It will work, but if you in the process of an initial migration from PC to Mac .......
..... I suggest you will be better served to get a Mac keyboard. Macs make use of a number of special purpose keys that would need to be mapped on a non-Mac keyboard. Being new to an operating system that is very tightly integrated with its hardware, you will miss some of the Mac experience or find frustration or confusion with non-standard hardware.

6. I've used a non Apple wireless keyboard with my MacBook
One time last spring I had taken my MacBook in for repair because edges of the case by the keyboard / mouse pad began peeling away. Because it was a problem a number of early 2008 MacBooks had they replaced it right away. But the first parts they put in weren't good, because a few hours later the built in keyboard stopped working. I got around that for the couple days until I could take it back to the Apple Store by using a wireless keyboard, which worked pretty good. It was an older keyboard that had been made to work with both PCs and Macs.
