Office here, Office there...
Office 2008 for Mac
Office 2007 for Windows

Since Office is a requirement for college, which version should I use? I am familiar with the Windows version and have Fusion installed... but is the Mac version any good? I've read conflicting reports...

Thx!!

2. Office for Mac is better and seamlessly compatible with Office for Windows
No one will know you're on a Mac unless you want them to.

4. Up to a point
Nothing is completely compatible with MS-Office, except another version of MS-Office, and sometimes not even then. At work there's an Excel spreadsheet I need to use regularly, which I do from Office 2003 under Windows, but colleagues who've tried it using later versions of Office under Windows have problems (don't blame me, I didn't design the spreadsheet, and have no control over it). Edit it using a non-Microsoft product? Forget it, I've tried several, including iWork, with no luck. Edit it using Office 2008 on the Mac? You'd think so, but that fails miserably too. Honestly, every time I'm forced to use a Microsoft product I wonder again why anyone puts up with this shit.

Office 2008 on the Mac has no support for VBA scripts and macros, for example. This was a deal-breaker for a lot of potential Office 2008 users.

Another thing about Office 2008: it's slooow, even on fast hardware. Startup time is ridiculous.

5. Macros
Yeah, what in the hell was Microsoft thinking, taking out VBA scripts and macros out of Mac Office 2008?

6. They whined that it would have been difficult to implement
And that it would have delayed release of the suite. So, instead, they saddled Mac users with a crippled product. Great!

7. Sounds like passive aggressive encouraging for Mac users to go PC.

That's like having relations with a known philanderer and without the prophylactic too...

8. Sounds depressing; I might take Pierre.Suave's advice...
Or use my Fusion emulation; aside from Office I have two minor Windows fractal apps I can still use because of it...
