wps, wpd, & docx files

This not Apple's fault, but that #@%K!$& Bill Gates.

I have word 2004, but of course it comes with no filter to open microsoft's other word processor programs, wps & wpd.

Now they have introduced a new format that ALSO doesn't work with word 2004, docx.

I looked on their website for converters and versiontracker, but I couldn't find anything that would do the trick.

Anybody know cheap to free software that can deal with this?

there is an update that will allow you to open the new word 2007 files.

open Office and go search for an update.

2. Microsoft released an application that converts docx and xlsx files.

I heard that they now can handle Office 2007 PowerPoint files too.

And, I wouldn't go bananas at Bill Gates over the decision to create an XML (more open) file format. Microsoft has done plenty of stupid things, but replacing a 7 year old closed file format isn't a bad thing. And aren't .wps and .wpd from Word Perfect and MS Works?

Look on the right side of the screen, third link down is the converter you need.

Works well. I use Office 2004, and iWork08. I'm able to open anything I need to.
