What the hell is the deal with all the "Take me fishing" commercials?

Why do we have to be encouraged to kill something as a way of family bonding?

How about take me camping?
Take me hiking?
Take me canoing?
Take me swimming?
Take me biking?

Somebody must be making $$$$$ off this, I didn't realize there was big cash in rubber worms.

2. The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation brought them to you.

It's part of their "Water Works Wonders" targeted at getting folks to get/buy/plan boating and fishing activities. It's marketing, plain and simple. Sadly, it appears it's working.
