Seal hunt weather update - expect heavy downpours of karma?

NEAR BEECH POINT, P.E.I. - About 70 vessels are floating amid heavy ice off the East Coast, ready for the seal hunt that starts Tuesday in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Captain Ken MacLeod, who has a 43-foot fibreglass fishing boat, said the weather is making him second-guess plans to head toward big seal herds on the ice pack about 20 kilometres off P.E.I.'s North Shore.

"Very dangerous, more of a chance that we'd care to take right now," he said, adding that whether the decision rests on " a lot of factors, and they're not in our favour."
