1. Silk.
It tastes better than real milk.

4. Silk is "real" milk It's just not from cow boobies
One of the definitions of milk;

the contents of an unripe kernel of grain

About 70% of the world population IS lactose intollerant. We just happen to have a long standing tradition of ignoring that here.

5. You are correct.
When I said "real" milk, I was referring to cow's milk. Most people think that is more "real" than even human breast milk (ever tried to get a person to drink breast milk? You'd think they'd be more okay with drinking from a human tit than a cow one)

And I used to be lactose intolerant, so I did some research. Really, the only group of people who are generally not lactose intolerant seem to be people from Nordic countries. It's a very common problem among blacks, Asians, white people of more Mediterranean heritage like Italians, etc.

6. Lactase production in adulthood is uncommon
Lactase is the digestive enzyme needed to digest lactase, the sugar in milk. In most mammals, including most humans worldwise, the body stops producing lactase after infancy. So lactose intolerance is not only common, but the *norm* for adult creatures. (Which is why cats shouldn't drink milk.)

Since humans have only been keeping domesticated animals for a few tens of thousands of years, lactase production in adulthood hasn't spread much beyond the few isolated groups of people who relied heavily on animal milk--Northern Europeans and one or two African tribes, IIRC.

2. Goat milk does contain lactose
The milk of almost all mammals contains lactose. (Marsupials are an exception.) Lactose is a sugar; removing the fat from milk doesn't reduce the amount of lactose in the milk at all, so non-fat milk is still going to make you swell up like a balloon and fart sulfur.

Your best option is to switch to soy milks. If for some reason you just *have* to drink animal milk, lactose-free milk is the only one that will be safe for your digestive tract.

3. Depends...
Are you lactose intolerant or allergic? My son is truly allergic - he can't have lactose free milk nor can he have goat's milk. He gets hives to start with & it goes downhill from there. If you haven't tried the lactose free stuff yet, I'd suggest trying just a little first to see how you react to it. Same suggestion on the goat's milk.

Having said that much... I'm with everyone else - go for Silk! They started making a Light version that has less calories & fat than the full version, but even the regular version isn't full of saturated fats. Either way, Silk is great... even though I am not vegan, I prefer Silk over milk any day.
