Is it legal for them to hunt does? (Graphic Image Warning)
My aunt wanted me to put this on here. I didn't know where else to put it. I thought maybe Somebody here would know. It is legal for them to hunt does?

My aunt wanted me to add: She's pretty pissed off about them being so proud of a seven year old killing two small animals. She is talking about future serial killers of America.

Here is the picture:

This picture was in the Richmond County Daily Journal, in Richmond County, NC in the Sports section today (1-8-2009). It is a correction to an earlier printing of the same picture.

1. I do believe it's legal with a doe tag
At least in NJ. I would imagine it's the same in NC.

2. What is a doe tag?
I've never heard of that.

4. It's a permit that allows you to hunt does
Just like in NJ, you need a license for freshwater fishing. Unless you spring for the extra $7 for a trout stamp, you aren't allowed to keep trout, though.

3. Yes, it's legal.
They call it "harvesting" in North Carolina. The only way it would be illegal is if it was out of season, or if they didn't have permission on that private property.

I have no love for hunting, and even less for people that raise their children on the bloodletting of animals.

Sadly, and unfortunately, it's legal. I am glad that your aunt is outraged. She's got humanity and compassion.

5. It seems so wrong to me.
That kid is only 7 years old and already proud of killing things. It's not as if they are really hunting for any sustenance. If somebody is in dire straits and does really need food, that would be one thing, but this...

It is as if they get some kind of sick thrill out of it, then pose for pictures for the paper. I never have understood what causes them to pose for pictures like that after the fact either. I just don't understand it.

6. The picture is a trophy.
Which is why anyone that argues that they "hunt to live" but takes a picture of them with their kill, is full of shit. They're trophy hunters that got to take some food home.

7. That is deranged if you ask me.
The only kind of hunting I ever saw that I actually understood to some degree was in the move, The Last of His Tribe. Other than that, why not shoot inanimate targets?

8. Yes, it is legal in all states. Check out the DNR Web sites.
And there are children hunting as young as 6 years old.
