Did anyone else hear that Matthew Scully is writing Palin's speech?
A Christianveg friend told me this. Said he was hired to do it before they even had a nominee, so he had a contract. I'm stunned. Can't imagine how he feels, working for this POS.

1. He's a Republican, so it's no shock really.
He's just an odd breed of the right wing kind in that he can actually think and rationalize. Plus, he's writing a vague speech for someone who is, most likely, going to sink herself. It's his job and he's going to do it. He's not AR. Let's not judge an author making sense of something because of his loyal and employment transgressions, eh?

Boy, am I gonna take shit for this one.

3. Well, if he wrote it he made her look like a catty, mean attack dog.
I just watched it in a class and even the token Republicans thought it was overly attacking, negative and dishonest.

Yay Republican incompetence.

7. I barely read any- the circa 1997 layout makes the Baby Jesus cry.
In the interest of discussion, do you think it's wise for them to continue to host his site for free? I know you often see movement politics from a different perspective than I do.

I wouldn't, but I would have said the same before the whole Palin thing. Right-wing policies aren't supportive of human or non-human animals.

8. Absolutely.
For a couple reasons.

One, Scully has never shied away from the fact that he's a Republican. He's going to support his party regardless of their take on one of his *personal* beliefs, and he'll continue to be an outspoken advocate for animal welfare. If his only political leaning was based on animal rights, well, he's good enough that we might have been looking at a Kucinich White House this year.

Second, the site is a pro-animal site and is hosted by a pro-animal host. I'd rather see Vegsource maintain and...ahem...*control* it, rather than some other third party that would load up the links with Republican trash.

Remember, Vegsource is a support site that exists mainly to provide information and resources on veg*nism. If "Dominion..." helps someone make the decision to go veg, Vegsource (like myself) doesn't care who the hell wrote it.

9. I had a feeling you'd disagree.
The way I see it is this- do his actions help or harm animals? While his book might have some limited effect in promoting a viewpoint that respects animal welfare, his support for Republican policies also promotes (I would argue much greater) harm to animal life.

10. But
having Vegsource host his site means that the focus of his site is Dominion. What do you think his site would look like if it was hosted by Little Green Footballs? I'm not defending him, I'm defending Vegsource's ongoing hosting of his site.
