Almost textbook...enjoy the video.
http://aeliberation.net/media/video/30tmink.wmv

"We were opening cages one after one and heard how behind us minks went out of cages and flopped on the ground. They sniffed at all around and each other. The first time in their life they ran on grass and bathed in water, rushed one after another, playing. Those one, who saw this, would never forget it! Minks swarmed up roofs and fences, without any help they overcomed not tumbled down parts of the fencing and ran to the wood. The number of released animals was increasing and at the same time more and more cages became empty. More than 15,000 cages were opened this night and more than 30,000 animals got the chance to escape from this hell."

1. Thanks.
That made me cry, but in a good way mostly.

It kills me when they press thier little noses up against the camera. Who could harm a creature with a face like that?

2. What should have been done
is the removal of the cage doors. Most of them were wood and wire. Rip that shit off the front, the roof off the lower ones (can't just play "Hulk smash animal abuser cages" when it's quiet time. They'd not try to recapture the critters that stuck around. Plus, no insurance is going to pay for wooden craptacular doors on f'd up cages.

Though, to be honest, I'd have had (let's see...15,000 cages) 5 folks behind me. Animals free? Check. Video safe? Check. Liberators a safe distance away? Check.

Boys and girls, here are your sledgehammers. You have 20 minutes. Get to it...

3. Yeah, but how long to quietly take doors off 15,000 cages?
Even in a obviously low tech operation like that? Maybe the logistics didn't work.

4. I am so glad there are some rambo liberators in Russia.
The author of the event sounded so humanely sincere.

What a dude. You go, man! He is indeed a hero.

Those poor little critters. They appeared to be approximately the size of a squirrel. I am glad a small fraction found freedom that night.

My streaming got hung up and I didn't see the part of the nose up to the camera. Had trouble with audio as well. I guess I should try the IE.

5. Yeah, the size of them killed me.
I'm watching them, and I'm thinking how many of those tiny little bodies it'd take to make a coat. Even one is a horrible moral crime, but how the hell does somebody decide so many creatures must die for thier vanity?

6. How long is a good question.
How long does it take to rip the shitty front doors off of 15,000 shitty cages?

Quietly, nothing. As I've always said...footage is cool, free animals and liberation is cooler. Rip the fucking doors off and run with it, for the love of god/goddess. Logistics is NEVER an issue... at least, it shouldn't be.

Wish everyone else thought the same...

7. I guess it could be fairly quiet with a crowbar
A little straining noise from the hinges or more likely the shitty half rotten wood coming apart.

I was thinking removing the hinges. I'm so used to my personal mentality of reusing everything that the idea of a less reversible dissasembly, ideal in this situation, just didn't come naturally.

I really need to work past these good girl tendencies. :D
