Majority in U.S. Supports Abortion Availability (Quinnipiac poll)

(Angus Reid Global Scan) – Many adults in the United States consider that pregnancy termination should be allowed, according to a poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. 55 per cent of respondents say abortion should be legal in most or all cases, while 41 per cent disagree. <snip>

1. What is most interesting

is to follow the trend. There's not much of a change, but there is a slight decrease in the anti-abortion crowd who are for making abortion illegal in all cases. Interesting that the percentages for these are always slightly lower than those who say abortion should be available in all cases.

2. well, if bush can call his 'win' a mandate--then so can this poll be

a people's mandate.

4. Also a shift from "legal in most cases" to "legal in all cases"

interesting - maybe abortion supporters have had enough of the anti-abortion crowd's antics amd have hardened their position

5. Even more interesting

...is that the extremes, the people that want abortion legal in all cases and those that want it illegal in all cases, make up a mere third of the total population. This tells me that the vast majority of the population--66% or more--has a moderate stance on abortion.
