Save Title IX: Write Letter to Congress
Today I read swim news articles in www.swiminfo.com . On April 8, 2005, this supposedly nonpartisan and nonpolitical swim information and news site posted a misleading anti-women column urging us to write letters to the Congress in support of the Title IX's reform, which would put women in great disadvantages over men in athletics. See http://www.swiminfo.com/lane9/news/9327.asp .

As a male constituent of this country, I do not support this kind of nasty anti-women movement that is sugarcoated with languages such as "interest" and "abilities" and opposed by virtually all successful American female athletes because I know that this reform is designed to put women at a great disadvantage over men in the athletic fields. So I wrote a letter in opposition to the reform of Title IX in order to urge my Senators and Congressman to leave the Title IX as it is.

Since we are all busy, I posted my letter below so you can simply copy and e-mail the letter to your Senators and Representative. And please e-mail this post to your friends so they can e-mail this letter to their Senators and Representatives. Make sure you cc the e-mail to editorial@swiminfowire.com so it knows how much we oppose this reform and swiminfo's nasty political move in support of discrimination against women. I also think it would be nice to cc the letter to Prof. Nancy Hogshead-Makar, Associate Professor of Florida Coastal School of Law and former U.S. Olympic swimming champion, for her clear legal insights in opposition of the Title IX reform at nhogshead@fcsl.edu so she knows how much we care for Title IX and her efforts to save it because she is quoted in the letter. Thank you.

To: Your Senators and Representative

Subject: Save Title IX (Please make sure you use this title so the recipients recognize the content when they receive multiple numbers of same e-mail.

Dear Senators _______ and ________ and Representative __________,

As your constituent, I oppose the current reform of the Title IX. During the last several decades, Title IX has been a key to America's world dominance in athletics and providing many opporunities for women to succeed in athletics. It also made many ordinary American women much healthier, stronger, and successful in their lives by providing more athletic opportunities in every level of education.

I support the April 7, 2003, testimony made by Prof. Nancy Hogshead-Makar, former US Olympic Swimming Champion and Associate Professor of Florida Coastal School of Law, at the Commission on Opportunity in Athletics's Hearing on Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. See www.clt.astate.edu/marburger/hogshead_title_ix.htm . I urge you to keep Title IX as it is for all American women (and for men to live with happy, healthy, and strong women).

Respectfully Yours,

________________ (Your Name)

P.S. Thank you Prof. Hogshead-Makar for standing up for Title IX.
