Bronze Age hoard found in Manorbier, Pembrokeshire
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-15493977

A collection of Bronze Age artefacts found by a man with a metal detector in a Pembrokeshire field may end up at the National Museum Wales.

The tools, a weapon, and other items which were found by Gavin Palmer near Manorbier have been declared treasure by the county's coroner.

The museum says the find helps shed light on how people lived in west Wales 3,000 years ago.

It is having the find independently valued with a view to buying the items.

1. Probably some Bronze Age Tweaker who forgot where he buried the loot.
I wonder what scrap Bronze was worth in those days.

2. It seems that using metal detectors is the British national hobby
There was a Viking hoard of silver jewelry in the news yesterday. And I think it was an Anglo-Saxon hoard last week.

The impression I get is that there are thousands of them out every weekend -- and that as soon as the farmers bring in their crops, they get permission to walk across the fields and see what they can turn up.

The result is that once-in-a-lifetime finds have become almost routine. Fascinating stuff.

3. For a moment, I thought it said "Bronze Age Horde"

And I wondered how those folks could have been living there unnoticed.
