Norway - dialup warning.. Sept 27 Auroras

Location:

Kvaløya, Norway

Details:

Storm indeed! Tonight on the island of Kvaløya outside Tromsø some of the most amazing auroras that I have ever seen could be glimpsed between the rain-clouds - I halfway expected to see some aurora-rainbow :-). The colours were absolutely stunning with purple and deep blood-red in addition to the green. Here are some shots from a corona time-lapse sequence from tonight, a night I will never forget! Nikon D3, AF-S Nikkor 14-24 mm f/2,8 at f/3,5, ISO 800-1000, exposure 3-20 secs.

5. This is th kind of stuff that makes life worth living.
For me, at least.

I found bear paw prints on my driveway this week. It'll always remain with me as a life experience. It's what I live for. Life experiences.

6. "To see a world grain of sand
To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

A robin redbreast in a cage
Puts all heaven in a rage.

A dove-house fill'd with doves and pigeons
Shudders hell thro' all its regions.
A dog starv'd at his master's gate
Predicts the ruin of the state.

A horse misused upon the road
Calls to heaven for human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted hare
A fibre from the brain does tear.

A skylark wounded in the wing,
A cherubim does cease to sing.
The game-cock clipt and arm'd for fight
Does the rising sun affright........ more

7. I refused a high paying job.
I traded money for beauty. Goodbye Silicon Valley.

My cats were the love of my life. I treated them like kings.

That poem means so much to me. Thanks for sharing it.

I'll admit that some who read my posts regarding overpopulation must think I'm a horrible person. But I imagine you understand that I see the destruction that has resulted from so many people living in this modern way.

9. We better hope we don't see a lot of class X outbursts auroras
but I feel the sun is waking up from its sleep and aurora visibility might be more common further south which means more powerful solar storms.

Not a good thing.

11. I understand that
and while aren't as far north as Norway, according to the POES satellite, we should have had aurora. I have seen similar displays from my backyard.
